Directed by Spike Lee
Crooklyn portrays the life of a family living in Brooklyn, focusing on Troy, a young girl, growing up among 4 brothers full of energy.
This movie great for many reasons. First, it is kind of an autobiography of Spike Lee. Second, I don’t know much about Brooklyn in the 70’s, but I like to imagine that it looked pretty much like he presents it in the movie: streets full of kids screaming around, playing baseball, sitting on stairs… Third, this story mixes hope and sadness. Fourth, every single actor plays his part very well. Fifth, the photography is great and pretty avant-gardist for that time (camera dolly). Sixth, the music is definitely awesome. And finally, some sceneries are just mind-blowing (when the kids sing in the front of TV).
